In case you didn't know, I contribute to this other blog now and again (hopefully more once I get photoshop and a new digital camera). The blog's name, Yer Sweet Chimneys, originally started as a band that was an offshoot of another band, who also appears as the main man behind the blog. Confused yet?

I came upon a street fair on Smith Street in Brooklyn last weekend. They pop up here and there in the summer, usually with booth after booth of tube socks for sale and arepas to eat. This one was a little different:

It's a secret

I didn't realize this was an Amstel light commercial when I first saw it...I was just sitting there with my mouth open in awe of how awesome it is. I want to live in Amsterdam so badly!

I've been in NYC, searching for the soul and all that. Finally got some film developed; I managed to snap precisely one picture in the Mythic Creatures exhibition before a security guard came dangerously close.

In Brooklyn, there is the ubiquitous brownstone. In Chicago, they are more commonly referred to as graystones because, well, the stones are gray. There are some interesting exceptions:
